Tracking
planned and completed harvesting activities is a fundamental
element of the webFRIS solution. Theoretically a
user will create planned harvest activities (clear-cut and
thinning) for many years into the future. Once these activities
have been completed on the ground, users will flag the original
planned activity as accomplished. webFRIS maintains
the spatial and tabular data for both the planned event as
well as the completed event so that comparisons between what
was planned and what actually occurred can be made.
Business
logic and topology rules are enforced on all harvest activities.
A completed harvest activity automatically calculates the
removals based on the process used and stores that information
in an easy to access inventory removal table. The residual
volumes are also calculated and remain as part of the stand
level inventory. Automation of such rules improves the accuracy
of the data and saves valuable time for the user.
